About the CEO

I'm a Leading Women Entrepreneurs FinalistSharon Olzerowicz is President and CEO of Hired by Matrix, Inc. (HbM), a company she founded in 1986, that has grown from an Information Technology Consulting Company into a 30 million dollar full-service staffing and recruiting firm. Matrix currently employs over 300 people and boasts an enviable client list of Fortune 500 and mid-market companies. With Sharon at its helm, HbM is now one of the most respected and highest performing partners in staffing. Matrix has successfully outpaced its competition in a highly saturated field by understanding their clients’ diverse needs and striving to provide the best candidates in a rapidly changing marketplace.

Throughout her career, Sharon’s focus and passion has been on making connections and helping others. She has concentrated her energies on championing other women in business and on giving back to the community, a two-pronged philanthropic approach that she exemplifies in everything she does. Several years ago, Sharon created HbM’s Charitable Giving Program. In addition to volunteering time and contributing financially to community charities, Sharon forged a partnership with Dress for Success. HbM team members host a job skills workshop for abused and underprivileged women in conjunction with Dress for Success, providing career counseling, resume writing, interviewing techniques, and critical job skills training along with the business attire and sundries to ensure they look the part.

Sharon is a long-term contributor to The Committee of 200 Foundation Protégé Program and mentors other female entrepreneurs. She is a WBENC SEP Mentor and recently completed a term on WBENC’s National Board of Directors. She remains on the WBENC Membership & Revenue Generation Committee, WBENC Women’s Enterprise Forum, and the Forum Membership Sub-Committee. As a WBENC Ambassador, Sharon has recruited corporations to become national members of WBENC. She has helped many WBEs become certified, and encouraged those who are certified to become more involved. Sharon’s first hand knowledge of the unique challenges facing women business owners enables her to empower other women with the tools they need to succeed.

Over the years, Sharon has received numerous accolades and awards. Most recently, she was a recipient of the LACE (Ladies Achieving Continuous Excellence) Trailblazer Award by the GWBC. She was a finalist for the coveted Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® Award New Jersey region, and a winner of the New Jersey Monthly Magazine’s Leading Women Entrepreneurs & Business Owners Award. She is also recognized year after year in the Crain’s Top 25 Women-owned Businesses in the New York and New Jersey area. And most recently, Sharon added to her long list of accomplishments, the SmartCEO magazine’s Brava! Award which, “recognizes female CEOs who combine their irrepressible entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for mentoring and giving back to the community.”

E&Y Entrepreneur of the YearSharon grew up in New York City and did a brief stint in the Lone Star State. She’s a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Plan II Liberal Arts Honors Program, with a concentration in mathematics. She is also an alumna of the TUCK Graduate Program. Sharon is married, has three grown children and resides in Northern New Jersey.
