Our Mission

Our mission is to impact the lives of our neighbors and strengthen our community. We accomplish this by taking our solutions based approach to nonprofit organizations who are making a difference. We provide financial support, consultation services, and support our employees in their volunteer efforts.

Our employees are engaged, generous and passionate about using their skills to affect change in their community.

Our Strategy

We are interested in helping a wide variety of causes, but of specific interest to HbM and our employees are:

  • Eradicating Hunger & Poverty
  • Championing Children’s Issues
  • Defending Animal Rights
  • Supporting Women’s Issues

The HbM Giving Strategy is currently driven primarily by volunteer efforts, with financial commitments geared to support the involvement of HbM employees in the local community. Specific efforts have included a company-wide “day of service” as well as donations (including money, food, clothing, etc.) In the future, we will be looking to provide pro bono services, skills based volunteerism and job skills training.

Many of HbM’s key customers are committed to serving their respective communities as well and in the future we will focus on strategic partnerships in an effort to gain synergy and extend our impact. If you or your organization is interested in partnering with us, please fill out our contact form.

Give & Receive

giveandreceivelogoHbM worked closely with Give & Receive, a 501 (c)(3), tax-exempt charitable organization whose mission is to improve the way individuals and businesses give time, money and other resources to various charitable causes. They verify legitimate organizations and couple them with devoted people of all ages who have a passion for giving. 100% of fees donated through Give & Receive programs go directly to the designated charities and Give & Receive does not add administrative fees or other charges for the non-profit organizations it assists.

Give & Receive offers innovative solutions such as an online charitable gift catalog empowering Givers to celebrate birthdays or other life events by inviting friends and colleagues to make charitable donations or volunteer time in lieu of cards or gifts with ‘gift’ options ranging from $7.00-$15,000.00.

In addition, My Business Giving assists business owners in customizing meaningful charitable giving strategies aligned with corporate mission and culture.

These and other programs allow Give & Receive to fulfill its vision of improving the way global citizens give time, money and resources to various causes, while helping people receive the personal enrichment that comes from intelligent giving.

Zoe’s Place

Zoes Place LogoThe mission of Zoe’s Place is to provide safe, supervised housing for pregnant teens and teen moms and their children, and to meet the need for critical education, skills and support services that will enable the teens to become self-sufficient. Zoe’s Place is designed to meet these goals in a supportive, caring environment, drawing on each girl’s strengths so that she may realize her full potential.

Through our partnership with Bergen County’s Habitat for Humanity and extensive community support, we opened our first home in Garfield in June, 2011, and now it is a true home for 5 teen moms and their children.

Zoe’s has received a generous grant from Women United in Philanthropy to establish a small social enterprise, Zoe’s Cupcake Cafe. The Cupcake Cafe, located at 740 Chestnut Avenue in Teaneck, NJ, provides employment and training opportunities for the girls we are connected with. Profit from the Cupcake Cafe is used to provide a source of sustainable funding for our home and the girls are given an opportunity to learn all aspects of the business including food preparation, sales, marketing, bookkeeping and customer service.

Shelter Our Sisters

Shelter Our Sisters LogoShelter our Sisters is Bergen County, New Jersey’s leading full-service 501c3 agency for victims of domestic violence and the only agency in Bergen County that provides emergency shelter.

Their mission is to assist women and children victims of emotional, economic, sexual and/or physical abuse. The agency provides emergency and transitional housing, although the clients’ needs extend far beyond just safe housing.

Shelter our Sisters offers emotional support and a diversified continuum of services focused on safety, empowerment, and self-sufficiency. These services include counseling, legal advocacy, extensive children’s programs, housing searches, a work-readiness training program and more. Through community partnerships, SOS raises awareness, provides services, and educates community members about domestic violence.

Humane Society of Bergen County

Bergen County Humane Society LogoSince 1972, the Humane Society of Bergen County has worked hard to provide care and good homes to animals that come our way from kill-shelters or homes where they are no longer wanted, and lost and abandoned animals from uncaring owners. We seek loving owners for all the dogs, cats, birds, and critters that pass through HSBC and have a constant flow of adoptions throughout the year.

The HSBC receives NO funding from state, county, or local government. We survive entirely through donations. From towels to cat food, all donations are used and greatly appreciated by our animals.

St. Peter Orphanage

St Peters Orphanage LogoSaint Peter’s Orphanage is a residential treatment facility for adolescent boys, whose parents, for a variety of reasons are unable to care for them. Our boys have mild to moderate emotional, behavioral or social problems. Although Saint Peters is a residential facility, we work very hard to assure our residents an atmosphere that is truly non-institutional, and more like a large family.

CUMAC ECHO LogoCUMAC is a large scale feeding program in Paterson, NJ. Our food pantry is currently feeding about 3,100 people each month, up from 2,600 last year at this time, which itself represented a 65% increase in need. Meanwhile our food depot provides food and support to a network of 55 smaller pantries; our Community Closet provides support to victims of disaster; our after school program provides a safe learning environment for 30 disadvantaged youth; Pathways to Work offers comprehensive job training to over 250 individuals a year; and our seasonal collections offer backpacks, holiday gifts and other items to children in need.
